Time is money in woodwork shops……………As you all know the more time that is saved in the woodshop the more money goes into your pocket at the end of the day...........My customers find ways to add machinery to their production line to speed up there possess and eliminate moving material around the shop. CNC technology is by far the largest time saver in a woodshop today……………These days there are many levels of cnc equipment to choose from………….( there is also some good used CNC equipment out here as well) The operator now needs to be computer savvy and not so much a woodworker. If you consider what a lease payment is on a CNC machine ( usually less than the cost of a good man) these machines do the work of two men plus………………….My discussions with the customer at the end of the day are…….” I just don't know how I operated without my CNC machine” and “ I could never be without CNC technology in the shop”

We all understand that the faster you build your project the faster you get paid. This is always the focus of a woodworking business. But talking to my existing cabinet shop customers, I have found that this in not their only goal. They are spending more time concentrating on quality not quantity. I have been watching the woodworking industry for 40 years. One thing has become evident to me these days, and that is how the quality of craftsman ship has increased. I have also noticed that customers today, in Saskatchewan, have more money to spend and demand quality for it.
Yes, the old saying still holds true, that no matter the size of business, the best advertising a woodworking business can have is word of mouth. Your future jobs have as much value as your present job.
