Increase Production Speed, Accuracy, and Safety in the Woodshop

posted by Prairiewind Woodworking Machinery    |   April 16, 2013 15:15
Prairewind Woodworking Machinery Sales in Saskatoon has helped increase production in woodworking shops all across Saskatchewan, with new ideas and machinery that provide an increase in production speed, accuracy, and safety, every day. Due to the labour shortage in the trades in Saskatchewan, these new products and strategies are helping to fill in the gaps where needed.

After speaking with my customers, the conversation often concludes with a discussion of staffing being the biggest problem. The question is often this: "what machines do I need to solve this problem, to be able to operate with fewer staff?"

At Prairiewind Woodworking Machinery, I pride myself in sourcing the correct machine for youneeds, within your budget range.

I have visited many many woodworking shops in Western Canada, discussing and absorbing methods of how to increase productivity, accuracy, and safety.

CNC Technology (New and Used) in the Woodwork Shop

posted by Prairiewind Woodworking Machinery    |   April 7, 2013 11:54

Time is money in woodwork shops……………As you all know the more time that is saved in the woodshop the more money goes into your pocket at the end of the day...........My customers find ways to add machinery to their production line to speed up there possess and eliminate moving material around the shop. CNC technology is by far the largest time saver in a woodshop today……………These days there are many levels of cnc equipment  to choose from………….( there is also some good used CNC equipment out here as well)  The operator now needs to be computer savvy and not so much a woodworker. If you consider what a lease payment is on a CNC machine ( usually less than the cost of a good man) these machines do the work of two men plus………………….My discussions with the customer at the end of the day are…….” I just don't know how I operated without my CNC machine”   and   “ I could never be without CNC technology in the shop”

Quality and Craftsmanship in the Saskatchewan Woodworking Industry

posted by Prairiewind Woodworking Machinery    |   April 1, 2013 15:09
We all understand that the faster you build your project the faster you get paid. This is always the focus of a woodworking business. But talking to my existing cabinet shop customers, I have found that this in not their only goal. They are spending more time concentrating on quality not quantity. I have been watching the woodworking industry for 40 years. One thing has become evident to me these days, and that is how the quality of craftsman ship has increased. I have also noticed that customers today, in Saskatchewan, have more money to spend and demand quality for it.
Yes, the old saying still holds true, that no matter the size of business, the best advertising a woodworking business can have is word of mouth.  Your future jobs have as much value as your present job.

Welcome to BlogEngine.NET 2.5

posted by Prairiewind Woodworking Machinery    |   June 11, 2011 10:00

If you see this post it means that BlogEngine.NET 2.5 is running and the hard part of creating your own blog is done. There is only a few things left to do.

Write Permissions

To be able to log in to the blog and writing posts, you need to enable write permissions on the App_Data folder. If your blog is hosted at a hosting provider, you can either log into your account’s admin page or call the support. You need write permissions on the App_Data folder because all posts, comments, and blog attachments are saved as XML files and placed in the App_Data folder.

If you wish to use a database to to store your blog data, we still encourage you to enable this write access for an images you may wish to store for your blog posts.  If you are interested in using Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, SQL CE, or other databases, please see the BlogEngine wiki to get started.

Security

When you've got write permissions to the App_Data folder, you need to change the username and password. Find the sign-in link located either at the bottom or top of the page depending on your current theme and click it. Now enter "admin" in both the username and password fields and click the button. You will now see an admin menu appear. It has a link to the "Users" admin page. From there you can change the username and password.  Passwords are hashed by default so if you lose your password, please see the BlogEngine wiki for information on recovery.

Configuration and Profile

Now that you have your blog secured, take a look through the settings and give your new blog a title.  BlogEngine.NET 2.5 is set up to take full advantage of of many semantic formats and technologies such as FOAF, SIOC and APML. It means that the content stored in your BlogEngine.NET installation will be fully portable and auto-discoverable.  Be sure to fill in your author profile to take better advantage of this.

Themes, Widgets & Extensions

One last thing to consider is customizing the look of your blog.  We have a few themes available right out of the box including two fully setup to use our new widget framework.  The widget framework allows drop and drag placement on your side bar as well as editing and configuration right in the widget while you are logged in.  Extensions allow you to extend and customize the behaivor of your blog.  Be sure to check the BlogEngine.NET Gallery at dnbegallery.org as the go-to location for downloading widgets, themes and extensions.

On the web

You can find BlogEngine.NET on the official website. Here you'll find tutorials, documentation, tips and tricks and much more. The ongoing development of BlogEngine.NET can be followed at CodePlex where the daily builds will be published for anyone to download.  Again, new themes, widgets and extensions can be downloaded at the BlogEngine.NET gallery.

Good luck and happy writing.
